Ida Davidsen

Type of Cuisine: Traditional
This restaurant is cosy and there are plenty of regular customers – some famous enough to have a piece of ‘smørrebrød’ (open sandwich, Danish style) named after them. If something is unbearably long, the Danes say it is as long as Oskar Davidsen’s list of smørrebrød, because in 1888 he started out his business on Nørrebro with 177 sandwiches to choose from. Now the restaurant is named after his great-granddaughter,  Ida Davidsen, and the list of ‘smørrebrød’ is even longer with 250 varieties on the menu. Try the one with with salmon, freshly marinated lumpfish caviar, crayfish tails, Greenland shrimp, lime and dill mayonnaise.
