Tarifa
Drive from Marbella to nearby Tarifa, known as Europe’s surfing capital, where the waters are dotted with kite-surfers and the beaches are wide and sandy. Visit Playa de los Lances; this beach is in a protected area within the Parque Natural del Estrecho (Estrecho Natural Park). The west wind makes this the ultimate beach for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Located on the beach, hotel Dos Mares is a great option for lunch. The Old Town
The Old Town, or ‘Casco Antiguo’, of Marbella is well worth a visit for its charm, history, and great restaurants and shops. The old town includes the ancient city walls and the two historical suburbs of the city, the Barrio Alto, which extends north, and the Barrio Nuevo, located to the east. The ancient walled city retains nearly the same layout as in the 16th century. Here is the Plaza de los Naranjos, the town hall and the Chapel of Santiago, as well as the Church of Santa María de la Encarnación, the Casa del Roque, and more amazing historic buildings.

The Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo (Museum of Spanish Contemporary Engravings) has one of the world’s best collections and is the first of its kind in Spain with engravings and graphic works that showcase the best of contemporary Spanish art. There are works by Dali, Miro, Picasso and Tapies which include etchings, lithographs, xylographies and other artistic forms of expression. The museum is situated in the old Bazan Hospital, a beautiful 16th century building that has two floors and a tower and features typically Spanish roof tiles and whitewashed walls.
