WELCOME TO RÍAS BAIXAS
Rías Baixas, in northwestern Spain’s beautiful Galicia region, is famous for its crisp, refreshing Albariño wines. With its Atlantic climate and coastal vineyards, it produces some of Spain’s finest white wines and is a paradise for wine and seafood lovers.
Where are we?
Rías Baixas is located in Galicia, in the northwestern corner of Spain, where the Atlantic Ocean has a strong influence on the landscape and climate. The region stretches along Galicia’s rugged coastline, with vineyards planted across lush river valleys, rolling hills, and coastal plains.
The wine region is divided into five subzones: Val do Salnés, O Rosal, Condado do Tea, Soutomaior, and Ribeira do Ulla. Its mild temperatures, frequent rainfall, and cooling sea breezes create ideal conditions for growing Albariño, the grape variety that has made Rías Baixas famous around the world.
What grows here?
Rías Baixas is best known for Albariño, the region’s signature grape and one of Spain’s most famous white varieties. Albariño produces fresh, aromatic wines with flavours of citrus, peach, apricot, and tropical fruit, balanced by bright acidity and a distinctive mineral character.
Although Albariño dominates the region, several other white grape varieties are also grown, including Loureira, Treixadura, Caiño Blanco, Torrontés, and Godello.

Small amounts of red grapes, such as Caiño Tinto, Espadeiro, and Sousón, are permitted, but white wines remain the hallmark of Rías Baixas.
What does the place do to the wine?
Rías Baixas has a cool Atlantic climate, with mild temperatures, high rainfall, and refreshing sea breezes throughout the growing season. This helps the grapes ripen slowly, preserving their natural acidity and creating wines that are fresh, vibrant, and full of flavour.
The region’s soils are mainly granite-based, with sandy, well-drained topsoil that encourages deep root growth. These soils, combined with the coastal climate, give Rías Baixas wines their distinctive mineral character, bright citrus flavours, and crisp, elegant finish that Albariño is known for.
