Traditional Swedish luscious shrimp and caviar toast; Sweden’s most elegant starter dish.
This prawn toast is an absolute Swedish classic that is worldwide appreciated and easy to make.
500 g cooked peeled prawns
half a bunch of dill very finely chopped
2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
2 tablespoons of sour cream
half a red onion, peeled and very finely chopped
pinch of salt & pepper
knob go butter for frying
brioche or white bread slices
Optional: Caviar for that extra Nordic touch
Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, half the lemon juiced, dill and salt and pepper. Add the peeled prawns. Fry the bread in butter.
Serve the prawn mixture piled on top of the fried bread and garnish with caviar if you wish, for a true nordic taste, add a sprig of dill and a lemon wedge.
